Worth the extra ticket? Our short verdict
The park is free, but these three attractions charge their own admission. Our view, not an official rating: the Palm House is the best value of the three if you like plants or want a warm, dry place on a cold day. The Desert House makes sense only if you are going to the zoo anyway. The Maze is mainly for families with children, and adults get more from the Gloriette terrace.
Prices below are for adults in 2026. The park and the free walk to the Neptune Fountain stay open without any of them.

The Palm House
Three pavilions and three climate zones in one glass house.
The Palm House belongs to the Austrian federal gardens, not to the palace operator. The palace site calls it the last of its kind built in continental Europe. It has three pavilions with three climate zones, so you walk from one plant world into the next.
Inside, the temperature is between 8 and 17 °C. Bring a layer in winter. As a glass house it also works as a rain plan.
Worth it if: you enjoy plants, architecture or photography, or you need a dry stop between palace and park. Skip it if: your time is short and you want views, because the Gloriette terrace gives more of those.

The Desert House
Part of the zoo, in the same corner of the park.
The Desert House belongs to the zoo, but you can buy a ticket for it alone. It costs €9, children €7, and children up to 13 must be accompanied by an adult. A colony of naked mole-rats with about 50 animals lives here.
The combined ticket with the Palm House costs €13.50, compared with €18 for two single tickets. If you plan the zoo, check the combinations on the zoo page: zoo plus Desert House costs €33.50, and zoo plus Palm House plus Desert House costs €38. The Classic Pass Plus at €81 covers everything.
Worth it if: you are visiting the zoo, or travel with children who like animals. Skip it if: you have just a few hours and only want the palace and the gardens.
Maze and Labyrinthikon
The maze is also known in German as the Irrgarten.

The Maze comes with the Labyrinthikon, a play area with activity stations. There is a lookout platform in the maze. It is part of the Exclusive Gardens ticket at €16 and of the Classic Pass, and a single price is not published.
Children up to 14 may enter only with an adult. Last entry is 45 minutes before closing, 15 minutes earlier than the other gardens. A combination of Kindermuseum and Maze costs €16 for every age group, the Kindermuseum alone €12.
Worth it if: you have children who enjoy running through a maze. Skip it if: you are adults without kids. Take the €5.50 Gloriette terrace ticket for the view. If you want the Crown Prince Garden and the Orangery Garden too, the €16 Exclusive Gardens ticket covers all four.
