Schönbrunn Christmas Market at a glance
The market stands in the large courtyard in front of the palace, at Schönbrunner Schloßstraße in Vienna's 13th district. In 2026 it runs from 6 November to 6 January 2027. The organiser, the palace operator and the city tourist board give the same dates.
The market lists more than 90 huts with crafts and regional food and drink. There is a programme for families, with an ice rink, curling lanes, a carousel, a Ferris wheel, a children's train and a craft workshop. Buses have their own car park.

New Year's Eve and 1 January are regular opening days. The market continues without a break until 6 January. The palace app shows dates, times and admission for the Christmas market and the New Year market. The sources do not clearly separate the two, so treat the late days as a continuation of the same market.

What costs money and what is free
The market has no admission fee. Food, drink and goods in the huts are paid, as is anything beyond the courtyard.

The ice rink is a Glice surface. Curling lanes can be reserved through the organiser. We list no prices for either, so check the organiser's page before you go.
Imperial Lights
A light trail in the palace park, from 6 November 2026 to 6 January 2027. Adults pay from €24, children aged 6 to 14 from €13. It is open daily from 4:30 pm to 10:00 pm, last entry 8:30 pm. Plan 60 to 90 minutes. You need a ticket with a time slot.
The palace and the park
From 3 November the palace opens daily from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The free park closes at 5:30 pm in November and December. The garden attractions end their season on 2 November 2026.
Opening hours →The festive lighting of the palace and the Gloriette is currently suspended, according to the palace operator, to save energy. The palace itself may therefore not be lit up.
Orangery concerts during the market
The Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra plays in the Orangery, about 300 metres to the left of the main entrance. Mozart is said to have played here himself in 1786.
